My father recently passed away and since his death I found out that he left his life insurance policy to my sister and myself. He did not change his policy since the birth of my other two siblings. Can my brother contest the pay out to either one or both of us?

when the death benefit claim form was sent in , we didn't know who the beneficiary was and assumed it was the deceased brother, since he is not and i am the insurance co. has sent him a form allowing him the ability to contest, which he plans to do if i don't split the insurance with him , any advice and what is involved in a contested claim

Well, it might be a good idea for you to give him half, since he's the named beneficary he could very easily walk with all of it...half of something is better than nothing of everything...IMO you should split it four ways...don't you REALLY think that would've been dad's intent? Don't you think maybe that is the ''right'' thing to do?

My farther recently passed. His sister forced him to go to the bank to change his accounts to her name. Can anything be done in regards to this. Also there was an insurance policy with my siblings and my names on it. My father was married, but separted for 15 years. He left his estranged wife as the first beneciery on the policy, mine and my siblings names were on the policy as well. We recieved a few books out of, I am thinking a half million dollar policy. I am not sure becasue how muc the policy was for. Do my siblings and I have the right to veiw the policy being that our names was on the policy.
