My father told me he had a life insurance policy with me as sole beneficiary ($100,000.). He did not want a certain relative to ever find out he'd been exluded. Unforturnately, the relative's son was the administrator of the will. After my father's death, the relative and his son took all the papers and claim to know nothing of an additional policy. (Yes, he's the kind who would/could keep me from getting the money). I have payment info from ins companies as far back as 45 yrs - companies merged or name changed or ??? Father's atty and ins agent that I'm aware of are deceaed. Any suggestions?

One option that you have is looking up the state insurance department for changed names of isnurance companies.

Also, if you share the company's name with the community. We can then search up for its existence.

Hello McKoy,

If you go to the FindYourPolicy.com website, on the "about us" page you will see a banner on the top right that says Locate New Names of Old Insurance Companies. Click that banner and see if they can help you.

I am VERY curious about THIS one...why would your father tell you that you are the Beneficiary of a Life Insurance policy, but, NOT tell you the NAME of the Insurance company, which the policy is through?

Have you point blank aske dthe administrator about the policy? Let him know that you are aware of it and its exclusions and will be looking into it. I would check out find your policy web site, track down the new name of the company and give them a call.

I'm the only child. I was incarcerated at the time of my fathers death, he told me that I was beneficiaries of several life insurance policies, yet he had to make my aunt the power of the estate in order to fullfill the burial process, my aunt lied to me about the policies saying that only a $5000 policy was located, yet through research I found that to be a lie, how do I find out what companies my father was insured under......my aunt has always hated me for whatever reasons, again how do I find out.

What research are you talking about George jr? I mean did your research not give you any hint about the name/names of the insurance company your father might have purchased policies from? It is difficult to find out the name of an insurance company if you do not have any documents or if the names have changed. Did you try look up findyourpolicy.com? Also try mib.com
