Mom passed away recently and her husband may have a life insurance policy on her that we are not aware of.

I presume that you have no idea about the insurance company the policy is with either. Do you know the agent that your mother used to deal with?

SuperAgent has given a very sound advice, MIB is a great source of information. Also you search though the document that she has maintained, you may stumble upon the policy document as well.

I’m bit confused Simon, is it the deceased having policy on her husband or the husband maintaining the policy on the deceased? The OP should clarify it.

Tazangel, is her husband still alive? The policy holder should be aware of the facts if he has maintained a policy with his wife as beneficiary.

Now, if the beneficiary has pre-deceased the insured, the policy holder would then become the owner of the policy. So, I actually fail to see how it can be a cause for concern when she wasn’t the policy holder.

Thanks,
Rupert

What if she was the beneficiary and didn't know? Maybe she wants to find out who the beneficiary is. If she doubts there was a life insurance policy, the proceeds must go to someone and maybe the OP is only trying to find out if she has been the beneficiary. OP can you tell us, what makes you look for a policy?

OP your mom's documents may give you a clue as to which insurance company it might be. If your mom's husband is still alive, he might be able to tell you. By the way, are you smelling foul play?

"Mom passed away recently and her husband may have a life insurance policy on her that we are not aware of."

Something in your post tells me you don't think everything is right. I might be wrong. Please correct me.

Hi to all forum members,

You can find out that your mom has a life insurance policy. You can see your moms documents such as his death statement & other personal documents related with your mom.

If you got any clue about her life insurance you can get more information from Insurance policy provider company.

Thanks & Regards.

Keep in Touch.

Hi all!

u may also try contacting people she used to work with.....she might have told them

Even if her co-workers fail to tell anything in this regard, the records may still hold it. Also go through her address-books and you might get hold of the agent's contact number. All the best!

This is the very reason that FindYourPolicy.com was created. It is specifically to assist the living to keep their loved ones informed of Life Insurance policies. What happens to this OP happens many times and only gets recognized when it is too late. There are over 500 life insurance companies in the United States alone and trying to find a life policy on someone is almost impossible. The MIB is a great source, however, they only go back 7 years so if someone took out a policy later, it would not be recorded. All the OP needs is a company name and that is all FindYourPolicy.com asks of their members. They will keep that name on a central database so that individuals like the OP can find it when the time comes.

well, you can check with your insurance agency in any insurance company. Regardless of which insurance company that you mum bought, all the information is stroring in a central database (internationally, if i am not mistaken), and they can check the full details of a people easily there.

The central database is actually serve as keeping the info for all insurance company to reference to check the people history before accepting a blacklist people to be able to purchase other policy again in different insurance company.

I have checked my info easily there, and even my insurance agents able to trace out some insurance that my parents bought for me while i am still kid, which i did not know at all. That really impressed me.
