Right now I can recall the name of LIC or the Life Insurance Corporation of India Ltd. I think LIC is one of the oldest in the country with the largest consumer base. Initially the market was highly govt. regulated, but recently there is a change in the trend. And at present few of the America's prominent insurance companies are operating in that county as well.
