Very recently we have encountered a similar query in our board. I wonder if she is the same asker.

However, you have to start your search from the family members. They may know the name of the company or at least the name of the agent, who has sold the policy to your grandfather.

Also, riffling through the papers of your gnadpa may also help you to locate the policy document.

The last transaction that your grandfather has made can also give you the clue.

The IT return of the deceased can also be of some help.

Hope the input help. Hope you soon find the policy document.

I have seen similar problem on other threads. But anyway, maybe one thing that she can do is to go check on insurance companies in their area. She might find the right company where her grandfather bought the policy. Or she can also ask their relatives. Maybe they knew something about it.

How did she knew it in the first place? If someone have told her about this, maybe she can ask that person. Or if she got this information from her grandfather before he past away, then, she could look for other person to help her gather some information.

This is quite a difficult situation. I hope she can find an answer to it soon.

Typcially when grandparents get policys on their grandchildren they let the parents atleast know about it...(my dad did, my grandpa did, and we did)...although we own the policys and are the primary beneficiarys we still told the kids about them..

At FindYourPolicy.com they not only register the company name of the Insurance policy and then remind the beneficiaries that they can locate this information on the website, they also locate old Insurance Companies that are no longer in business. If someone has the company name and can no longer get hold of the company we can find out who bought them out or who merged with them. This is free to members. Anyone interested in more information can contact us through the website.

Hello Lori, This service is something that we have just recently added and it is not listed on our website yet. We are more focusing on the benefit of the Registry and Reminder service offered through our website. However, we have noticed that many people are in this very situation where they have a name but no way of contacting the company since they have be bought out or merged. So we have decided to add this service of finding Insurance Company's new names. I sent you a "Quick Message". If you would like me to assist you please contact me. Thank you

Hello InsInvestigator,
I agree, this topic is gaining momentum. Many people come to us http://www.findyourpolicy.com looking for their loved ones life insurance policies becasue records were lost or not kept. We can prevent this by registrying the names of the life insurance companies and then reminding the beneficiaries that the information is on our website. It is a simple way for individuals to never be in a position to look for policies. They will always know where they can find the information.

Hey Lori,
Isn't it all about getting enough information (and sources) out there to help the average consumer? If I link the websites (I've asked my webmaster to do so) and it helps someone, where have I gone wrong?

Thanks,
Mark
