| I have a policy that my grandmother took out in 1970 when I was just 5yrs old I contacted western and southern insurance and they told me they didn't have a record of it, so they would contact the main branch and get back to me so far no one has. It was a 1,000 whole life policy. What should I do? |

Hi dean, you might have to contact the insurer back and demand for the updates. Moreover, you may also go through the papers and documents that your gramdma has.
Why haven't you inquired about the policy in these three years? wasn't there any mention of he policy in your grandmother's will? are you sure that the policy was with Western and Southern Insurance company? |

Checking with the MIB database may help you to locate a lost policy. However, you may also have to check whether the policy was in force when your grandmother died. At times when a whole life policy lapse due to non payment of premium the insurer may reduce it to a extended term life plan. If the insure die within the this extended term you may receive the death benefits. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

dean, is this a policy on your life or grandma's? _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. | Go to FindYourPolicy.com/ They have a service that looks up new life insurance company names of old life insurance companies. You simply give them the exact name of the old company and what State is was issued in and they will find out the new company name that took over the old company. |

I found a paid up policy taken our by my grandmother for me with Old Equity Life Insurance Company. A legal reserve stock company of Gary, Indiana. The phone number and address is not working. What should I do or how can I contact the appropriate person. I am not 54 years of age. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

The news may not be good. Old Equity Life Insurance Co. does not seem to be in existence at this late date. There is nothing about them in the CA Dept of Ins database or on the AM Best website.
Somewhere along the way in 1980, they became Old Equity Mutual Life Insurance Co. In 1985, they changed their name to Inter-American Insurance Company of Illinois. Beginning in 1991, the company began running into trouble with regulators across America. On the Texas Dept of Insurance website, it appears that they lost their Cert of Authority in that state in 1996.
The website lists an address of
901 West Jackson Blvd, Chicago IL 60607
[[ This address appears to be a 5 story, multi-occupancy building, not the kind of place you'd find much of an insurance company. ]]
And an attorney for process of service
Richard M. Hunt
510 Texas Commerce Tower
Dallas TX 75201
[[ The Texas Bar Assn shows him as being employed by Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr PC in Dallas, (214) 855-7502 www.munsch.com His address is now 3800 Lincoln Plaza/500 N. Akard Street, Dallas, Texas 75201-6659 ]]
If anyone can provide you with more information about the status of the company or its policies, Mr. Hunt probably can. You can contact him via their website. He looks like a nice-enough guy in his photo on the Munsch websiite. _________________ CA-licensed P&C Broker-Agent and Life Agent. CA Insurance Lic #0596197.
