my dad passed away how do i find out if he left a will plz

to make this easier for everyone reading this add,my dad was murderd more than 20 yrs ago and i cant get any help,finding out for sure if there was a life insurance policy.people tell me there was but it was never found,when i was contacted about my dad being killed,his store had already been gone through and the safe he had was open and empty,i dont know what was in there,but his attonery will not even speak with me now.the estate had to be turned over to the state because there was so much back taxes that needed paying and i didnt have the money to handle his estate the way i wanted to,and its been almost 21 yrs and still no one has been arrested for killing him,i cant even get answers,from the sheriffs dept.

i am sorry for your loss alice. But if your dad had a will wouldn't he tell someone? or shouldn't the attorney in charge of the will contact you and your family?
