I am about to take a home insurance. My agent is telling me if I take my home policy from my auto insurance company, the sum of the two insurances would cost me less than the original auto insurance alone. Is it true? How is it possible?

It is possible.
If you take more than one policy from the same insurance company, it usually provides package discounts.
You get the discount for providing more business to the company and also for considering it over the others in the competitive market.
