What is premises liability? Is that an indispensable coverage to include in my home insurance policy?

Your homeowner's insurance will include "personal liability" coverage. Anyone other than a resident family member who is "injured" on your property and/or as the result of your negligence would be covered up to your policy limit of liability -- and those "injuries" do not necessarily have to occur "on" your premises.
"Injury" can include damage to them or their property as the result of your or one of your resident family members' personal negligence -- such as your child who breaks a neighbor's window with a baseball, or when you slander someone (or commit certain other torts not intended to be covered by other insurance) and are sued in civil court.
The term "premises liability" is usually found in commercial insurance policies, not homeowner's.
