Non-matching brick in claim

A very large tree fell on our house and did over $150,000 worth of damage. Our house was built in 1925 and their is no brick that matches the existing brick. The insurance company claims they will not rebrick the whole house and they will only pay to patch with unmatched, miss-sized brick. This will ruin our historic home. Is there anything we can do?

Pay the difference to have the entire home rebricked.

When it comes to things like siding, insurance companies usually pay to replace the siding only on the affected side of th home. So that one side looks the same. But of course brick can be different.

Just wondering... putting on all new brick, will that not ruin the "historic" affect of the home?

There are several factors that could come into play here. First of all depending on the state your home is in could have a big influence on your claim as some states have "matching" statutes that would address situations such as yours. There is also a coverage in some policies for Law and Ordinance which with your home being historic it may be required to be restored in a specific manner.
