Hi guys. I have a sports utility vehicle for quite sometime. I have recently come to know that my insurance covering it might just go up in a few days. If it is really so, how do I cope with the situation now? I stay in Louisiana, so please advice.

hi Yulia, do you know this fact that sports utility vehicles and pick-up trucks are reported to have been more threatening towards accidents than the light vehicles ?
Rest assured that if you belong to Louisiana then the insurance rates for your sports utility car is not gonna go up so soon. In order to change the rates, the insurance company needs to get a permission granted by the Louisiana Insurance Rating Commission towards raising the rates.
Thanking you, Sasha T.

Its always better that we go and check how much we need to expend for the insurance of the vehicle of our liking before we buy it, simply keeping in mind the different rates depending on the type of the vehicle and its special equipments if any. In your case, the vehicle company can't arbitrarily change the rates wihout any prior caution.

Believe me, if they are trying to do it they could be penalised if the change doesn't have a sound basis. Apart from that if your utility vehicle's insurance gets to be somewhat equal to that of any passenger vehicle then it is bound to remain unchanged until the proposed hike gets approved.
So, lets hope for the best right now!

Hey there, lemme assure you of one thing right now. Even if it seems to you that your company is not aware of these studies, still you don't need to worry. Just be sure that before such an increase in rates there would be many more researches to be conducted to analyse the different factors to be taken into account leaving aside the damage factor.

One such vital factor would be the chances of an accident related to your vehicle. By going through this fact that the sports utility vehicles face lesser number of accidents, it implies that when such vehicles actually crash they inflict a heavier damage.

The recent times have also seen a swift change in terms of its consumers, while it seemed so identifiable with street smarters earlier now its popular amongst young parents as a means to safeguard their family's interests. Thats why its all the more important to remember that all these studies are not perfect at all times. Stay in touch and hold on to your peace. Dave Batista
