I completed signed up for term life insurance and decided to cancel the coverage within two weeks and the agent said he would refund my check to me. Little did I know the agent has now without authorization drafted my checking account for the past two months and will not return my phone calls should I contact the Attorney General's Office? Foresters Life Ins. Agent.

first of all call the bank and STOP the automatic withdraw...and call the company and tell them to put the money back in!

I would definitely get in contact with your bank to see if they can help.

I've been having trouble with Forester's also and will be filing a complaint. Once they have you, they won't let you go - and they are very hard to get in touch with. I am trying to cancel mortgage insurance. They were supposed to send me the obligatory paper work a week ago and I still haven't seen it. I was told it would take 6 weeks (!) to process the paper work once they received it from me. Meanwhile, they will be deducting premiums from my checking account. They appear to border on being fraudulent.

Although it's inconvenient, you can always close your bank account and open another. That will end the auto drafts.

I prefer to establish those with my checking-debit VISA card, rather than by giving up my checking account number. If I ever get crossways with someone, I can just report my card as lost, they'll cancel the card (and all my auto pays along with it) and send me a new card. I just have to set up new auto pays as I prefer.

That's ridiculous!! It also violates most state laws that require a cancellation to be processed promptly and to get the return premium payment in the mail and to the client within 25 days (plus an extra few days if using an agent to deliver the check). I'll bet it took them less than 2 weeks to issue your original policy.

Your not seeing her again... her post is from 9 months ago. "Someone" is simply reviving many old threads.

You're right - you caught me. I've been extremely busy and haven't been able to keep up with my friends here in the Forum. I guess I should have paid more attention to the dates.
