I’m just 15 and still in school. But I want to earn some during the summer holidays to help my family. I’ve heard that I need national insurance for that. Is it true?

Mangoqurious has no idea what he writes 99% of the time, and his "yes" answer is completely false. There is no such thing as "national insurance". All you need is a Social Security Number and the required identification to prove that you have the right to work in America.

Whether you can find someone to employ you at age 15 is a different matter. But that doesn't mean you cannot work for yourself. You can mow lawns, do yard work, wash cars, recycle bottles and cans, or any of a hundred other things to earn money. There is nothing other than your work ethic to stop you or make you successful.
