I was playing golf on saturday and got nailed in the head from a golf ball. The guy never yelled four. I went to the hospitol in an ambulance and had to get a cat scan and my head stapled closed. I have a bill for $1500, should his insurance pay for this??
any help would be greatly appreciated. THX

A few years ago, I got nailed on the left side of my chest near the shoulder with a drive hit very well. The person yelled "fore" and this caused me to turn around and look for the ball - bad idea. He should have yelled "duck". I was knocked completely off of my feet and as far as pain goes, it ranks right up there with a compound rib cage fracture.

Ironically, I never even thought of suing anyone or receiving compensation of any type - short of a beer several months later from the same guy. Because I live on a golf course, I guess I've just accepted things like this, a broken window, and a few holes in the side of my house just comes with the territory. If you live on a fault line, you'll feel more earthquakes and if you live in Miami, you'll feel more hurricanes. I would just deal with it.

Nice post Ins. I liked the line about yelling "duck" instead. There was a joke about this same thing but for the life of me I can not remember it. Anyway I think the way you see this is correct.

Roughly 10 years ago, I was playing a beautiful golf course in Henderson, Nevada, and actually hit a mockingbird in mid flight - killed him dead on the spot. Funny thing; I've been hunting different types of birds with my dad since I was about 4. and I've killed literally thousands of birds during that time ( I eat almost everything I shoot). Anyway, killing that poor mockingbird with a ball hit with my 4-iron caused me more grief than any bird I killed prior to that.

There are several houses along the golf course where I live that have dozens of craters in them from stray tee shots (three homes have been hit more than 100 times). I am absolutely certain the golf course [doesn't think] they're responsible for any damage caused by golfers. I would absolutely cherish the day I find out differently and can hold them accountable.

I imagine the golf course would have made sure they were protected before even placing its course there. I know in all the games (football, baseball ) we go to both professionally and unprofessionally it always says things about "at your own risk".
I am glad you eat what you kill. I am from a family that loves to hunt and believe if you kill it you should eat it...not just do it for the fun of killing something. I would have felt bad about the mockingbird too.
