ahh, romance. the times online reports that the indian government is offering 50,000 rupees (or about $1,084) to higher-caste people who marry spouses from lower castes in an effort to help dismantle the hierarchical hindu caste system.
i know that marriage means something quite different in india and the united states, yet both states promote marriage with economic incentives. what sort of financial incentive would it take for you to wed someone you would not otherwise have married?
