Can a mechanic fix your car without giving you a qoute or so

I took my car to another mechanic to see what his price would be. Are you saying that he had your car for a couple of weeks with no communication then called out of the blue and said "your car's fixed, here's my quote."? How many weeks were you planning to wait before you called him to find out what was going on? Oh, and does this have anything to do with insurance? Posted: Fri Sep 25, 2009 9:18 am   Post subject: insurance   That's my same 'concern', as well. Why would you just wait. Did you just drop your car off and leave? How did the garage know what you needed done, if you din't tell him in the first place? I don't think (legally) they (mechanics) can just work on your car and NOT tell you what they are doing.
