So I had a driver from the incoming lane swerve into my lane. In return, I chose to run off the road to avoid a head on collision. I plowed down a speed limit sign as I ran off the road. I have damage to my bumper & grille on my truck. I can fix it myself, but parts are going to cost a little under $500 and I have a $100 comprehensive deductable.

This event took place on a back-country road at night (8:30pm). I stopped in the field hoping the other guy would turn around and come back, but no such luck. Instead of calling the sheriff's office out & reporting the incident, I just left as well. So anyways, I was wondering if I would be able to turn this in to my insurance (nationwide) as a comprehensive claim.

Here is a quote from their website:
Helps pay for damage to your vehicle not caused by collision or upset. Examples include damage or loss resulting from theft, vandalism, fire, windstorm, flood, and certain other natural disasters.
- One of the most frequent comprehensive claims is collision with an animal, which causes an average damage of $2,800.

Here is their example of a collision
Pays for damage only to your vehicle if you hit another vehicle, another vehicle hits you, or your vehicle rolls over regardless of who is at fault

Either way, thanks for the advice.(I'll be in contact with my agent in the morning.

Firse, and foremost this is not a comp loss, this is a collision loss..what is your collision coverage deductible?

No, but you can turn it as a collision claim.

Sorry honey, but this is a collision loss all the way...even if you ''said'' you were trying to miss a deer, and hit the other stuff, still collision.

Yes, it is a collision claim. Could very well be a liability claim also as someone may ask for you to pay for that speed limit sign you hit.
