See, adding a teenager to your policy could be a risk in case your chap is not responsible as a driver. They'd only become responsible if you'd show them how auto insurance acts, explain the cost elements and ask them to share the cost for which they'd be responsible. In that way, they'd be more responsible and reduce your risks effectively.

First of all you should talk to them regarding the financial responsibility and the risks associated with driving. You should explain to them why the insurance carriers would consider them to be more risky drivers.

While you'd apply for their name to be added on your policy, they should be accompanying you all the time. They should go through the paperwork and review the costs. Roddick

Yes, they should know the additional amount that gets added to your premium with their inclusion as drivers. If they'd fail to earn for this extra amount, they should at least work towards reducing other household costs in order to compensate.
