I am wondering if there is an insurance that would carry your mortgage for a period of time if you or your spouse were to become involuntarily unemployed and be unable to meet the mortgage for a period of time.

There are some products on the market...I get offers in the mail with my mortgage statement, and I've seen them with credit card statements. Sorry, I don't know the companys. I'd say though, if you are already laid off, chances of a company taking on your risk would be slim to none.
