My neighbor hit his sprinkler and it released about 3,000 gallons of water. Significant damage was caused in my unit. How do I go about filing a liability claim? How long do these things usually take? Also, it damaged some business equipment, and I need to know if it can be filed?

If the person hit it with their vehicle you obtain the auto insurance carrier information, call them and file the claim. Either that or you can file under your dwelling policy, give them your neighbors information and have them pursue recovery after they pay the claim.

Each claim and each carrier is different. Your carrier would probably take a few days once they had estimates. The other carrier might take 2-4 weeks. Could be longer.
