| My mother inlaw from China is here living with us on a temporary visa. We are applying for a green card for her to stay with us. In the meantime is there anything we can do to get her health care? |

| I guess the best solution to this is to contact your health insurance agent. i'm sure he can propose some way for your family to get around this issue. |

May be I could do some research if you'd share which state/city you're in. Also, you haven't mentioned about certain factors like her age, pre-existing conditions (if any).

Most health insurers are not inclined to insure persons who do not have legal residency. But that not to say it's impossible. What's far more important is to disclose everything asked for in the application. No concealment, no misrepresentation.
Every insurance application asks for Social Security Number as an identifier (even though it says on my Social Security Card issued in 1967 "Not for Identification" -- that statement does not appear on original SSCs issued after about 1975 or so). Without that, a person is going to be hard-pressed to apply for coverage.
Get the Alien Registration completed, get a SSN/TIN, and things will be much simplified.
You don't state what your mother-in-law's age is. If she becomes a legal resident, at age 65 she'll be eligible for Medicare (by paying a premium for Parts A & B, assuming she is not qualified on her own or married to someone who is).

| It may be difficult getting insurance for a temporary visa holder, but not impossible. You can get in touch with your insurance agent holder and gather some information. However, even if your mother-in-law is a senior member and wants to get a medicare, she would not be able to do so till she becomes a legal citizen. |

Good neighbor SAFE visa holder's Medicare contributions goes into a fund to compensate for any unpaid emergency medical expenses.
