I LIVE IN FLORIDA, MY EMPLOYER CUT MY HOURS FROM 32 HOURS A WEEK TO 9 HOURS A WEEK, ALL BECAUSE I TOLD THE NEW MANAGER THAT I CAN NOT WORK ALL NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS. I HAVE NOT WORKED ALL NIGHTS OR A WEEKEND IN OVER 2&1/2 YEARS WITH THIS COMPANY, BCAUSE OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES I HAVE.WHEN THE NEW MANAGER CAME ALONG AND THE COMPANY CUT MY HOURS TO 9 HOURS A WEEK I HAD ALREADY BEEN WITH COMPANY FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS. ONE OF THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME TAHT I AM ELIGIBLE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT EVEN THOUGH I AM STILL WITH THE COMPANY? MY QUESTION IS: AM I ELIGIBLE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT EVEN THOUGH I STILL WORK FOR THE COMPANY?

I just want to point out some things: I'm a single mom (it's only MY income coming in my home). In MOST cases, single mom, or not, "personal responsiblitles' are NEVER over..they NEVER end. A person (in most cases) have to do what they have to do....THIS 'idea' I WILL defend. Reading the above posts, I don't beleive I read the OP was "blaming" her employment. She was just stating the facts......just trying to see what the options are, in the circumstance he/she is in.

My apologies for using the term ..blaming.... My intention was not to hurt feelings of any member on this forum. I used this term in a general sense in order to make a point that employer's may find it difficult on occassions to accommodate priorities of all the employees.
As the referred employer in the above case did previously.

I HAVE NOT WORKED ALL NIGHTS OR A WEEKEND IN OVER 2&1/2 YEARS WITH THIS COMPANY

Which indicates that for last 2-1/2 years things moved in perfect way.

Family responsibilities / Personal responsibilities for a single parent are are more challenging because they need to provide all sort of financial and emotional support to their families. However, with time requirements (of kids) keeps on changing (Time and Money) and if we can manage them, there can be nothing like it.

Even I have started working online leaving a regular job to take care of kid with autistic features. Fortunately after efforts of last 2 years things are coming to normal now, and may be soon I will be able to move out (though I feel that I am making good income working online now.)
