I need help determining how much a claim is worth, the total medical and special damages is right at $10,000. My husband was out of work for 2 weeks (he makes $1500 a week) with migraines, vomiting and nausea. He received treatment for 7 weeks with a chiropractor and is now discharged but told that his tendon damage in his fingers will take time to heal.

I know that the insurance company is ready to settle but I dont want to close them down by asking something outrageous. I come to a amount of $34,000 which includes the medical bills and my jab at pain and suffering.

Is this too much?

One more question, what is a reasonable amount of time to add in the demand letter for the adjuster/insurance company respond?

Its usually 30 days. I they need longer, they should let you know why. It's not uncommon for it to take a little longer though.

tcope...would hurt or help our situation if I wrote a letter that explains we understand that accidents happen but the effects of this collision has had a severe impact on our lives. That the thought that we could have easily lost My husband and my childrens father if the collision had been a few inches closer to center or if he had not reacted in the way he did to try to avoid the collision.

I have a idea of what I want to write but pause in thought before putting words to paper.

This would be addressed from our family and not included in the demand letter but as an enclosure with all the other paperwork.
