claims adjuster/insurance seems to be slow to respond...

I was involved in an accident about 2 a weeks ago ( snowy icy back road, collided with town plow truck, i was found liable for it, both drivers walked away) the accident happened on a thursday night and i called my insurance company (Arabella insurance, CT, im fully covered) about an hour after it happened.

Gave them all the info about it etc and they said they would be in touch, on that monday i received a call from them saying that a claims adjuster would call me later that day so i waited until Wednesday and received no such call. On wednesday afternoon i decided to call them myself to see what the holdup was and was told they had lost all my contact info and had trouble contacting me(which i found a little weird since they had called me on monday and all the checks ive sent them have my address and phone number on them :lol: ).

I finally got ahold of the claims adjuster and told him about the accident etc and he told me they were going to take my truck out of the lot it was currently in and move it to a fee free lot they had to look at it,( since it had been sitting there from thurs-wed) he also had me remove all my items and license plate from the vehicle which i did ( i left him a msg after that to tell him everything was removed and to give him the address of the yard it was towed to since he said he wasnt sure where it was )

It is now saturday and i have yet to hear any information about my truck (totaled or not) Ive left two messages with him and have yet to recieve a call back. I know adjusters are busy this time of year am i just being impatient or is this something i should be concerned about?

You should call and speak to this person's supervisor. Let the supervisor know about the repeated promises that are being broken and explain that this is unacceptable.

I agree with T, you need to talk with someone higher up. However, what you have stated above, is that your vehicle has been deemed a total loss. I feel that it is hard to believe that this adjuster did not discuss this with you when he instructed you to remove your items. If he did not, then yes you should be very concerned.

Yes, you should be concerned, and mad....I'm with the other two, this is just nuts....first off, YOUR carrier 'lost' YOUR contact information? pa-leeeeeeeze--that has to be the dumbest excuse I've ever heard in my life.. :roll: :roll:

Make sure you are calling your 'claims' dept. NOT your agent, or the independent apprasier (if that is who is supposed to be inspecting your vehicle)...also prior to calling and talking with a claims supervisor or manager, I'd call the tow yard, and ask if they have ever picked up my car, and if so when..

Oh i agree with you Lori i about blew my top when they told me that excuse haha. When i first talked to the claims adjuster he told me that from what i had told him damage wise he said it sounded like it would be totaled but that was before he even got to look at it, I have to go into their office tomorrow to drop off some paperwork so ill try to find out whats going on then. I will also drive by the tow yard since it is very close to my house to see whether they indeed have picked it up

This is not uncommon. I will move a vehicle (with the owners consent) to a facility to avoid storage if I can't get to it in a period of time to inspect it. A few of my clients require that I avoid storage if at all possible. However, I do not base the decsion on what an owner tells me, that comes more from the shop, tow company etc, or if I am there at the accident scene. However, I would not advised you to remove anything until it has been "offically" deemed a total loss.

yeah I thought it was odd that he had me remove everything before they had even towed it away to their yard unless the tow company where it had been staying told him about the condition, hopefully i will find out everything tomorrow.
