| i had an accident which was my fault im claming from my insurance for the other persons car and for my own cars damage im just wondering could you tell me please who gets the checks for this claim and also an accident asser from the insurance is coming out to me to asses my car damage what will happen after that |

| If you and the other driver own your vehicles (do not have a loan-making payments), the check will go to you. If both of you have loans, the checks will be made out to you and your lien holders and or body shop who will repair the vehicle. After the adjuster inspects your vehicle, your carrier will issue you payment (if you don't have a lein) or direct you to go to a repair shop. |

In a first party claim situation, the insurance company pays to whomever it deems necessary to settle the loss, subject to state laws. Presuming that you are the owner of your car, they might issue a check made out to you or to the body shop you have chosen to repair your car. This practice varies from company to company.
After the insurance company had assessed your car, they are going to determine the amount of damage caused. Finally they make you a payment or offer you a settlement based on their assessment. |

How many asses and what are they going to do to your car? That just does not sound very nice of them. |

Like Veronica said, for a first party claim, your insurer will pay whomsoever they deem necessary like maybe the body shop where you want to get your car repaired and you. If the body shop has been chosen by the insurance company, then you may not see any check at all. The payment will directly go to the body shop.
