Recently I have started thinking about a career change and I am considering operating an Assisted living Facility. I am tryingto find out how owners nad managers of these homes are paid. I was told that you could contract with DAD to provide services to seniors who live at your facility. Someone also told me about Community Base Alternatives. I am not sure where to locate the right information to my questions so if there is any one who has more knowlege about Starting an Assisted Livinig Faciliy and how compensation works please inform me.

You will need to start with your State Government to know and understand the legal, premises, and staffing requirements. Since you would probably be looking for persons with Medicaid coverage, you probably want to start there . . . to learn what a facility needs to do/have in order to be qualified to take on Medicaid beneficiaries.
There will be licensing issues, as well as potential zoning issues in your residential neighborhood.
Having said that, there are plenty of folks across the country offering such services without state/local approvals. But they are dealing with private paying clients, not Medicaid beneficiaries, so most of it is "under the table/radar" -- part of what's sometimes known as the "underground economy.
But it's probably not unreasonable to expect to collect $2500-$3500 or more per month to house and care for a single individual. From that, you will have to pay your hired help and pay for their Workers' Compensation insurance, your liability insurance, and your higher utility bills. Housing two or three persons is where it can become a more profitable venture.
