WE HAD GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL. WONDERING IF I SHOULD GET A ROOFING SPECIALIST TO LOOK AT MY ROOF? WILL IT HELP ME GET THE COVERAGE I MAY NEED?

Are you talking about getting "coverage" (insurance that does not currently exist) or having a claim paid by an existing insurance policy?
If you have insurance and have damage, contact your insurance company to file a claim. In the meantime, your policy requires that you protect the property against further losses to the best of your ability.
"Getting a roofing specialist" is probably meaningless in either case. As others have posted, you could find yourself locked into a high cost, low value contract with little or no escape. You would not want to be in that position!

As Max stated..turn in the claim NOW...your carrier will contact you and set up and inspect, or instruct you to get estimates...there is either hail damage or there is not.

If you had golf ball size hail, you surely have damage to your roof. You don't need a specialist. All you need is access to your roof. Hail damage is easily apparent on shingles. As Lori stated, just file a claim and your insurer will send out an adjuster for an inspection.
