Allstate A tree fell on our house which is a rental proper

A tree fell on our house. Allstste would only " piece-meal " the roof. We fixed the whole roof. Allstste only gave us $7K. We made up the difference. They also owe us lost rent because it is a rental property. We have had Allstste for over 30 years. One would think they would treat long time clients well. They treat us like trash. They won't pay what they should. We have total re-build insurance. Doesn't that matter ? Also, the damage assessor's first quote was about $4K. That was laughable. Even if we ask for a new assessor, it would take longer and he would say the same thing. Why do we have insurance when they won't live up to their part of the bargain. We must get insurance to buy a property --- Really sucks, Doesn't it ?

I don't think anywhere in your policy does it offer this "total rebuild" coverage. I think you may have Replacement Cost coverage. If you want to know what that is, feel free to read your policy. I'm betting that they did not pay you a depreciated amount on the the repairs that they allowed. If correct, then they paid the replacement cost amount.

Was the entire roof damaged? If not, then they did honor the terms of the policy. You can feel free to disagree and pursue them legally for not honoring the terms of the policy. However, you need to show that they did not. Just because you don't want a "piece-meal" roof does not mean that they did not pay what they owed.
