hail storm hit Aug. 9th. Claim filed Aug. 9th. Pictures sent by me to claims Aug. 12th by e-mail. Comparitable value form sent to me Sept. 12th, returned Sept 13th by fax. Listing damage again. Called for status on Sept.19th. Was told it would be several more weeks. Now, they want to send an adjuster. They wouldn't send a adjuster in the beginning. It was either take to the nearest rv shop which was over 70 miles away, or I could take pictures and send them to the claims department myself. Why now? What are they looking for? Is this going to help or is this just another delay? Would it be better to get estimates from a local body shop before the adjuster comes?

You can definitely do that. If your insurer did not send an adjuster for a long time, its better that you get your own estimates to find out your actual loss and use the documents to back your claims.
