gieco told me that they can not give me a proposal with me keeping the salvage automobile. the only proposal they will give me is for them to keep the salvage automobile. WHY

If there is no lien on the vehicle they are incorrect. It's that the adjuster does not have a clue. Ask the adjuster where in the policy is states they take the car? You then point out where is states that they will pay you in the case of a covered loss. They are more then welcome to _deduct_ the salvage value from their offer in order to settle the claim.

It's your wish if you want to retain your totaled car. The final settlement offer will be a lower amount, since the policy deductible and the salvage value will be deducted. You can try negotiating with the adjuster for a lower salvage value.
