How is it my fault if my girlfriend has a suspended license? My auto insurer is refusing to renew my policy, unless she's excluded. Why so?

Why is her license suspended? Most likely the reason leads to the person being a much higher risk if they are behind the wheel. Adding to that... why would it be a problem for you to have her excluded from the policy if she can't legally drive your vehicle anyway? Out that question together with this... she _will_ drive your vehicle if she lives in your household.

Your carrier simply is choosing not to accept the exposure your girlfriend creates. They are not allowed by the state to charge enough premium to address that exposure. The premium they are allowed to charge is $0... as she can't legally drive. They can't charge a premium for someone who can't legally drive... it's like charging a premium for a 5 year old in a household.

But bottom line is that you should have _ no_ issue with the exclusion as you won't be letting her drive your vehicle and you will be locking up your keys so she can't just get them and drive your car (and if you don't do that she _will_ drive your car and when she does she _will_ be in an accident and when that happen _you_ will most likely need to address that loss on your own).

I presume she lives-in with you.
She's risk and no insurer is willing to take up more risk than what he's being paid for.
Your rates would have soared if she had her license, and a spotty driving record to go with it.

As tcope has said, only excluding her also won't do. Make sure she doesn't drive.
