I was at fault in an auto accident, no injuries to me or other driver, only minor bumper damage. The driver I hit approached me and asked for $1000 to pay hid deductible. He drafted a document we both signed stating I fully reimbursed him for the deductible. Now apparently he has filed a claim and I am being asked for $1835, the total amount of the claim, and another $1400 they paid him? I thought this was illegal because the insurance company has no more rights than the policy owner? Also, double collecting? Am I supposed to pay again?

It also depends on legal restrictions of your country. However, if you want to sort out the matter without the consent of authorities then I think you will have to agree on his demands.
