Came around a corner and clipped a tree trunk that was protruding over half the road. Appeared to have fallen out of another truck hauling yard waste. Is this comp or collision?

Collision coverage reimburses you for the repair or replacement cost of the car after collision with another car or any inorganic items. It will enlist the object they will consider as inorganic items. Normally, collision with a tree or fence may receive coverage under the collision coverage.

Good morning seattleapt.

Probably your insurer will not consider it under the comprehensive coverage. The typical comprehensive coverage will compensate you for the loss if the loss is caused by the perils listed in the policy. It covers losses from-theft, fire, vandalism, snow and so forth. However, collisions with animals (other than human) and birds will come under comprehensive coverage of your policy.

Quite tricky, isn't it Wink

Yep, sorry collision. Crying or Very sad But still may be considered 'non-chargeable' will depend on your company. Now had you been following the truck and the log fell out and hit your vehicle prior to hitting the ground, comp, (falling object) some companies will cover under comp even if it hits ground first, the two companies I have worked for both had made the decision if it hit the ground then the vehicle was collision if from the truck bed to your vehicle without hitting ground first it was comp....Man, ain't insurance a hoot? Confused
