Im pretty sure you probably know my situation. If not here is a run down. My landlord failed to fix the porch so it can be safe. It was also a building code violation. The fix was inexpensive and not long to fix. Due to this i injured my right hand and wrist. I had to get surgery to fix it. i was left with 70-90% radial nerve damage to my hand/wrist. I have to deal with pain and weakness. This injury is permanent. Know how cheap my landlord is he probably got the least h.o insurance coverage which is a 100k. I know my claim is worth more. I thinking about just asking for that.

Also their interest is to protect their insured. How do i make an offer to them? Do you think they will accept it. Because it would make anysense to go over that so why not just ask for it. I just want to get this over and done with. Help please.

How much are your total medical bills, and loss of wage? how long did you suffer acutely? It's very difficult for us to place a dollar amount on these and we really can't without reviewing all the medical info...but we could (maybe) tell you if we think you are in ball park or way off base....let us know this stuff and we'll see what we think....

don't ask for anything unless and until you are as back to normal as you are ever going to get.....rushing into settlements are never a good idea....

hi lori. My medical bills are about 10k. Not including the emg test i recently got done. the emg dr. Said if it was going to get better it woukd have by now. Lost wages i wasnt working at the time because construction didnt and dont start until may. I got hurt april 2007 and surgery was aug 07.

medical bills arent much because there wasnt anything dr. Can do. It nerves and it will either get better or not. Which its not because 7months since i had surgery. And it still the same. I got the emg done jan 30th that is 6-7month after and emg showed 70-90% radial nerve damage. And im fairly young and have to deal with pain and weakness. Plus the loss of sensation

How (EXACTLY) were you injured again?

I was injured due to a bad porch and i fall and my wrist and hand got hurt. Than some got messed um and entrapped and tangle the nerve. It couldnt be free during surgery so the dr had to dissect the nerve.

I think you're going to have to wait and see how the job turns out, if you are able to maintain your employment at the level (or near) that you were prior...that could play a large part of your claim....If for instance (and you'll have to prove your income) you made 40k on your last job (with the plants) but cannot now due to your injury secure employment for more than 20k per year...that will add to your settlement...without being able to review all of your medical records...I think you might be on the high side, (for now!) don't panic, I can't see all of your records, reports etc, (and don't want to) or if maybe there are any midigating circumstances re:your accident. ("gross'' negligence, which can also add to value)....were I you I wouldn't attempt any settlement until you know about your employment really....also (regardless of the income thing) I would still most certainly (if they push that you make the first offer), ask for policy limits...(that's kind of standard, you'll want to ask for way more than you expect to receive  all part of the game  )...........let us know after you find out about your job...

also, if you had surgery etc, how are your bills so low? was it in an out patient, fully conscience procedure? 10k just sounds very low to me.... :?

My son got burned on both hands during a grease fire at his girlfirend's house and had to have surgery. All he got was 2,000 and his medical bills. He was out of work for a month at least.
