| My truck was hit and the other insurance company is sending an adjuster, i own the truck, no lien holders, i just want the check. Do i tell the adjuster that i just want a check sent to me directly? Will i get a lower settlement if i do? I also live in arkansas if that makes any difference. |

| Sorry, the other company has accepted the responsibility of repairing the truck. |

They will give you an estimate of your damages that they determine. If you don't want to get your own bid (sounds like you want the money and will not repair the damages - which is okay) you can accept their amount and they will issue you a check in exchange for a property damage release.
Will your settlement be less....maybe. What if there is hidden damage or they estimate incorrectly? If you don't want to hassle getting a bid from a garage, take what they offer and move on. It is none of their business if you have the damage repaired. _________________ Can I say I’m working if I stare blankly at my computer all day? |

| Oh yea.....I would just have the vehicle repaired ( having the OTHER insurance comapny pay for it, I mean). Why not? You don't have to pay anything.....free repair!! |

| Oh..I see where you're coming from. You say the vehicle is driveable?..but, is it SAFE to drive? I'm asking because, the repairs may not LOOK bad, but, there may be MORE damage than what it looks like. I was recently in an accident. I din't think my repairs were THAT bad....someone rear-ended me and bent my back bumper down and bent the hitch on the back of my Jeep. When I ahd the Insurance adjuster look at it, I did a WHOLE lot more damamge then it seemed. I bent the frame, bent brackets, etc. As Isaid, it MAY be driveable,..but, is it SAFE to drive? You never know. I'm just thinking of your kids. |

| I took it to 4 mechanics and they all concur that it is body damage only, no frame warpage or anything, it was struck as a lady back out of the driveway accross the road, very, very, very, low speed impact, just enough to crease the bed a bit. but thank you for the thoughts. |

Their estimate should come within the range you got. If you want, you can supply them one of the estimates you obtained if their estimate is lower. They do not need to know that you are not going to repair the vehicle. They will figure it out since you won't ask for a rental, but it really doesn't matter if they do know. _________________ Can I say I’m working if I stare blankly at my computer all day? |

| Oh, good, KRAMER....glad it wasn't frame damage. Well,...you DO have the right to ask for a check in your name...I would think, anyway. So..the vehicle is safe enough to drive (according to the adjuster..)? Good. A bit of a thought of my own: I know your concerns about getting school supplies for your kids. I have a wonderful 16 year old who can't wait to go school shopping!! Would ya believe it...he's EXCITED about going back to school!! Seeing all of his friends again, etc. |

You said you have five kids. Don't you think it's reason enough to get things fixed first? Plasticmind _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| Plastic mind, i dont appreciate my parenting being put into question, nor the reference to being neglectful, you obviously dont have many if any children. I also said its a work truck and the kids ride in the car! |

kramer:
If you read enough threads here, you will see that sometimes comments are made without reading the entire thread. For a work truck, it makes no sense to fix it. Most people that have trucks for work are most likely going to dent them again anyway. _________________ Can I say I’m working if I stare blankly at my computer all day? |

| WOW!! Alittle bit of 'negative vibes' in this thread. If it was the family car that was damaged, I could 'see' other people's point of view (actually, when I posted in the Thread, I didn't 'catch' it was a work truck, either) of the safety of the kids. But....a work truck? .....I guess it would be the OP's decision whether to fix it right away. |

It's ALWAYS the vehicle owners decision where to fix their vehicle or NOT fix it...OP, just tell the adjuster you want the draft issued to you, and you will make arrangements to repair it yourself, or not. There is no reason for them to not pay you directly since it's a third party claim. Only exception would be if the vehicle totaled, and the damage doesn't sound that bad at all...
Let's back off the OP's parenting...there's not a thing in this thread to make anyone think that she doesn't have her kids best interest at heart for pete's sake, that's just ridiculous! _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake.
