Total loss valuation autosource

by balvarez » Mon Aug 24, 2009 02:51 pm

I have a quick questions about two things:

1. The insurance company we have is using Auto source to value a total loss vehicle and they are valuing the vehicle at a significantly less value than NADA puts for the car. Does anyone know the process of Auto source? and

2. Can anyone suggest steps in fighting this total loss valuation process.

It is a 2003 Toyota Corolla S.

Just lost to Allstate on a 2001 Dodge Neon. They used Autosource. They devalued the car almost 1 grand. The adjuster put in the report non existent damage. like "hail damage" and furthermore he wouldn't point out WHERE said damage was.
Talking with the settlement officer proved fruitless and they wanted to take possession of the car from the second they received the Police report. All the way up to when I finally broke and said i'd settle. "Ok, sir, we'll settle with Allstate taking possesion of the vehicle" My response was "NEGATIVE!" Right now i'm in agreement with the used car lot to get this "Found Un-reparable" car that just needs a hood, fender, bumper cover, and headlight assembly. Sadly they would have saved themselves 300 bucks if they had just repaired the car instead of trying to steal it from me.

check nada / bluebook / dealers / autotrader and other online sources before settling with your insurance co. Verify all auto source information used in the valuation as well.

My 4runner was parked on the street in front of my house and was hit by a drunk driver going 50-60mph without braking the damage to vehicle without tear down and internal inspection was at 5200.00. Allstate let me know they are 100% Liable. (duh my car was parked legally and their client was drunk). the first offer they gave me was for 4600.00 plus tax I laughed and said no spoke to supervisor after his review they offered 4850.00 plus tax. After my complaining and requesting all documentation received a new off of 5282.00 plus 462.18 total of 5744.18. NADA retail is 6375.00 minus 625.00 for mileage and add 175.00 for sunroof total of $5925.00...and that's not including tax.

Allstate said they would pay for one week of the rental car I had it for two. I have lost 23.5 hours from work without compensation as I am a new employee I paid 57.00 for a new car seat. Because this happened 12 hours before girls trip I had to cancel my trip (no transportation) and pay cancellation fee 150.00 for not giving enough notice. and three days of no vehicle at all. As of right now I am already out a little over 1000 dollars.

I find it interesting that Autosource offers a free vehicle search for a replacement vehicle that Liberty Mutual has determined totaled because of Autosourced valuation only after the insured has settled with the insurance company and not before. So in other words Autosource does not want to be in conflict with the valuation they have contracted to supply Liberty Mutual and what value the consumer may find in the real world used car market when trying to find a replacement. All I know is that in good faith effort I have not found nor will be able to find a replacement car at the value Autosource has determined.

My insurance company, State Farm, is basing the replacement value of my total loss on AutoSource's valuation only. Their evaluation is only 78% of NADA's and I am unable to determine whether or not they included options, as NADA did. Any suggestions on my next move?
