Can you apply for non owner auto insurance if you are 18 years of age trying to obtain a drivers license? The vehicle that will be used will be one of the parent or sibling car not my own. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.

I think if you're 18 or above, then you're an adult & hence all rules that are applicable to other adult drivers would be applicable to you as well.
Why would you be an exception? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.
hey..
When I got my license the insurance was something to come naturally with it!
I believe its your choice whether you'd like to go for the non-owners insurance or not!

BERHMAN...............I agree with your opionion. My son is 15. I talked to my Insurance Co. about 'adding' my son on my policy. I can 'add' him as a driver, but, I would 'add' him as a Owner because he doesn't own the car.
Hi Packard-bell, I'm curious about this statement:
Quote:

Could you clarify what you mean by this?
Are you saying that you got insurance automatically when you got your license?
And Pat,
Do you live with the parent(s)/ sibling(s) who's vehicles you will be operating?
If so, it's probably going to be considerably less expensive for you to be added as a driver on the family (household) policy than to buy a non-owner policy for yourself. Unless there is some reason they don't want you on their policy.
However, if you live on your own this wouldn't be an option, but if you don't own any vehicles and don't have any direct access to a vehicle in the same household the only good a non-owner policy would do you is if you were borrowing cars that don't have insurance on them (or if they have lower liability limits than your nonowner coverage). Or if you rent cars on a regular basis.
You should ask the agent that provides the insurance on the vehicles about this, any decent agent will help you find the most cost effective way to be covered correctly.
