workers compensation

Hi,
I broke my hand after I slipped down inside my office premises, while RETURNING after having my lunch at wendys. I was informed that I was not eligible for workers compensation as I was out for lunch at that time. Is there something I could do? The workers compensation documentation is too general in its mentioning of employee rights.
Please let me know.

I am not sure. If you were already inside your office premises you may be able to fight it. Do you "clock out" when you go to lunch? I know we use to have to but some do not. Either way it was inside their building so maybe they have other insurance that would cover you. If so you may be able to collect lost wages that way.

Have you received a written denial from the insurer? if not then possibly your claim hasn't been denied yet.

By the way, who has informed you that the claim might get denied? Have you spoken to the claim adjuster? or its a colleague of yours who have solicitaed this information.
