I'm doing research to file a claim and was wondering if there was a way I could find out what type of insurance a business have as well as their insurance carrier's name?

Hi, I am pretty much sure that the nature of the insurance policies would vary owing to the nature of your business! I am sure if you have an ice-skating rink for summer....you'd be looking for a temporary cover...isn't it!

Yes- the business area of yours might just vary with another person and hence both would need to secure different coverages. The extent & costs would also vary accordingly. Regards, Benefactor_dexter

My friend,
Just answer me a question..would you like others to know about all those insurance coverages that you have for your business?
Well, some of these information would fall under your trade secrets..lest other people would guess your strength areas & the measure of vulnerability associated with your business. So, I guess you won't let your competitors beware of your safety measures until you've achieved the height of success & even after that. But yeah, you might always pick up a business category & search online about the required coverages for its smooth running.

Sasha

OP, are you saying you slipped and fell or something? What ''type'' of claim are you wanting to file? You will need to get more specific...but the obvious answer is ask the company!

The best way to find out about a person or businesses carrier is to just ask them and inform them that you intend to file a claim against their insurance. They need to know that you're filing a claim. Otherwise...send copies of your bills to them and they'll forward them to their insurance Co.

Thank you all for your comments. The company owes a considerable amount of money, so much money legal proceedings had to take place. Unofficially I was told by an ex-employee the company maintained insurance to cover legal matters such as the great debt so I wanted to investigate if that was true. I've contacted the company and they refused to release their insurance information. Not sure of the direction to go at this point, any ideas?

Rlynne, we need to know what you are looking for...I'm not real clear on this...what ''type'' of claim are you wanting to present against this business? Please explain that a little better, so we are better equiped to assist you...

A company failed to pay for work (without any cause) performed by my brother causing financial hardship in his business. The company were liened by my brother as per state laws. The problem is this company can afford to wait it out and not pay, my brother can't so I'm looking for means of helping him without having to create more financial hardship with a lawsuit.

A former employee of the offending company informed me they had insurance that would cover situations like this. I started thinking this may be an option, file a claim against their insurance. This ex-employee wasn't able to remember the insurance company name and a call to her former employer wasn't fruitful.

I'm kind of understanding then not really...I know of no 'insurance policy' that pays a debt. Are you sure it isn't some sort of bond? If your brother has a lein on some property (like a mechanics lein) then can he not (pretty inexpensively) pursue that lein?

If I knew they 'type' of business maybe that would help, but I'm sure drawing a bland on a type of ins that could/would cover an unpaid debt...Have you checked with your states licensing agencys for the type of buisness this is? All businesses have some sort of governing body.

Lori,

I don't know it could very well be a bond. She (former employee) told me they had insurance (bond?) that covered such matters. How do one search out bonds? As for the lien it is just sitting on the company's credit, they could just wait 10 years until it falls off their credit.

From what I can tell the "piping industry" don't have a licensing board in Texas. The company is a industrial pipe distributor. I've contacted The Department of Transportation (DOT) since they are considered a transport carrier to see if there was an angle I could use there but no. Insurance filed with them cover the trucks they use to haul pipe.

I did contact Texas insurance commission but I've yet to hear back from them, I asked them if there was insurance a piping company could use that would cover debt?
