She is leaving my indy to become captive. I have never heard of Farmers hiring an expirenced agent nor anything about the farmers agent salary . Has any Farmers agent heard of this? Any advice to keep her? How is being a farmers agent ?

Ed if she's your #1 producer why should she hang with you and split commission? She's doing what you would expect a #1 producer to do.

In 1988, I was the #1 life insurance producer for Kentucky Central with 192 paid applications. It was at the company convention the next year the old timers were asking me why I was still working for the agency splitting commission and that I should have my own GA contract.

After Kentucky Central imploded I no longer felt any loyalty to my GA and needless to say with that type of production I had no problem securing top GA contracts.

My point is a #1 producer isn't going to be satisfied working for an agency like an empolyee. The agency does nothing for them that they can't do better themselves.

Let her go....

Pay and appreciate her more...reward her for being your best producer....sorry ed but duh...trying to dig up dirt to make her stay isn't the right approach...and as Gary said, many people with this kind of drive want to be their own boss....if you can't keep her wish her well, and tell her she always has a place to come back to if things don't work out...

Do you pay her any commission? Do you tell her "thanks" - do you give her half a day off for no reason?

Or is she simply a worker drone, like the rest, that you say maybe 3 words to every day?

I do everything I can go keep my number 1 producer happy. But if I have trained her so well that she is now in the position to own her own company, then I am thrilled for her. My contract has a non compete that insures she won't be my competition so I'm not concerned about that.

She already has every Friday off. I pay her well. Last year she earned 60+! I asked if she was ready to deal with all of my head aches and since she has been with me for 3 years we have a great relationship. She is ready to leave, but ask me what I think about farmers agent salary . I do not know that much other than they take any one as agent and hope they stick. She will stick, but could I get some farmer info from agents and non agents. AND YES I HAVE SEEN FARMERS SUCKS.COM, but I want the real Farmers complaints info.

Ok,so you're not trying to pressure her to stay and have been taking good care of her you just want to help her make a wise decision is that it? Farmer sucks.com is just a rant site, that is really not much benefit regarding farmers agent salary ...are they guaranteeing her a base salary? What about benefits Ed does she have any with you and what are they offering? Do the support the agency until it is producing on it's own? Has she given you the reason(s) she wants to leave 'honestly'? Have you asked her, 'what can I say or do to get you to stay?' In my area the farmers agents and adjusters have been with the company for a long long time, so they must be happy.

she is going to their reserve program No benefits. I gave her $1,000 for a heath plan that she could sell to her self and collect the commission also. I just do not know that much about farmers agent salary and do not want her get in it and then try to get out and have to pay back the loan they give her.

eeeewww, how much is the loan? and is there anyway out of it if say after six months she decides this isn't the place for her? Also will she be welcomed by to your agency if this doesn't work out?

What about giving her a percentage of your agency? Depending on your age and her age, she could "buy" the agency from you when you retire?

Not near old enough for that. She is older than I am. I am going to offer her a profit share on Monday. I will give her a 10% cut of profits every quater. I just don't want her to get burned with farmers

I would ask her regarding farmers agent salary..regarding how she came up with Farmers as a choice. A friend pushing her hard?

Profit share is nice...possibly increased commission if she surpasses her prior months production?
