| I am thinking about dropping my aflac insurance it is nothing against them I would recommend the insurance to anyone if they were thinking about getting that type of insurance but right now I cant afford it financially how could I cancel it and not have them to pull it out of my payroll anymore after I cancel it because i have heard of people canceling it and still have the money taken out of their pay |

| Hey, its not hard to cancel Aflac policy, you need to call-up there customer care service and follow the instruction given to you by the rep. You may have to write a letter to them requesting cancellation of the policy. |

Check the policy document; it might have described the process of cancelling a plan. And, since the policy is through your employment, the HR department at you job may also be able to assist you in cancelling it.
BTW, have you looked for replacement coverage or just decided to go without insurance? Lemme tell you though it seems hard to maintain insurance at the given market condition, but its never wise to stay uninsured. Therefore, try to get replacement policy before you cancel this one. |

Notify your HR rep. in writing that you need to cancell your policy. They should stop your payroll deductions the next billing cycle. The only time your employer can not cancell a policy is if your deductions were pre taxed (IRS 125 Plan) and you were getting a tax break every month. (This is an IRS rule not your company or AFLAC) You can however, cancel at your companies annual sign-up period. Your HR rep should notify you when that will be. Hope that helped. | if this is a ltd policy always have one seems like nothin till it hapens to you then try to live on ssdi also check what offsets apply not important untill it happens to you had it all & lost it all |

i just tried to cancel online. obviously no links for that... maybe you can request to drop someone from your plan and make that person you... but i didnt try that. i called their number during hours there wasnt a rep so the automated response wasnt useful. i have had a friend ask me about aflac since he thought about selling it before and said anyone selling it would make major bank coming back once a year to resign policy holders since it is a commission based job. maybe our company can only sign up/cancel once a year but it seems like you should be able to cancel anytime other than open enrollment. I have NEVER used AFLAC to compensate anything, but i would be covered enough through any other form of insurance besides this supplementary accidental insurance to make it not worth the low price. now if only i could cancel it...

well I found out that to cancel you have to write a letter and fax it somewher im not sure if I have to fax it the agent I spoke with Who by the way was very nice in coming over and slick when explaining how great aflac is, but very covert in explaining the cancelling process which I was n't told about until I called and asked to cancel my son was diagnosed with colic and I have to spend about 60 bucks every two weeks for his formula so do you think im going to pay for insurance or baby food mmmmm hard decision aint so tomorrow i will find out who to fax this letter to...YES AFLAX SUCKS BALLS

I'm still searching for how to cancel my aflac policy,I too am going through financial hardtimes. I have tried speaking to my rep but I am continuously being told that I can't cancel until open erollment. If anyone knows how your help would be greatly appreciated.

Whenever any insurance is paid through payroll using pre-tax dollars the IRS rules state that you can only cancel your policy at open enrollment periods. They will also allow you to drop your coverage if there is what they consider a change of status. Achange of status would be a job change and that allows you to drop your plan (on the other hand regarding Aflac you can keep your policy at that group rate locked in for life if you so choose). Other changes in status would be marriage, divorce, birth, and death. Your change in status has to reflect your policy change. You can't get married and drop coverage, but you may add your spouse and so on.
Most Aflac agents do explain this process, however it is a lot of info for somebody not in the insurance industry to take in and remember.
