have policy number - no phone number

HI ALL,

My wife just got into accident , someone damaged her car . She took person's name and policy number .. nothing else .. I don't even know what insurance company this policy with . Is there a way to decode insurance company base on policy number format

Not that I know of, you might try just calling the claims numbers of the largest insurance companies and go down the list. You might get lucky

What about the license plate number of the driver? You can find out about the owner of the car from the state DMV if you have the vehicle number. This may worth trying.

The police report must be carrying the phone number of the driver. Chk out your luck with the police report. Ask the officer who was present at the spot. You can also try knocking at the door of the state dept. of insurance. Let us know the result, pal. :)

Just call or find the owner of the vehicle (you have their name right) and ask them 'who is your insurance company?" other than that you will just have to start at aaaaaaaaa insurance company and go down the list...sorry..
