My friend,
I guess a temporary license could only be issued to you when an insurance carrier has requested it in order to allow you to get trained as an agent. It would be effective for a period of 6 months following which it would have renewal periods of 3 months under the prescription of the insurance commissioner.
This temporary license might allow you to deal with the premium collections, but I don't think it would allow you to solicit, sell and negotiate regarding fresh insurance accounts.

You are able to apply for a temporary insurance license in Georgia while working on your full license. You need to fill out a form GID 103 which can be found here:
It will cost you $75, but most importantly...you MUST have a supervising agent that is already licensed in the state of Georgia.
The full license involves a 40 hour course and a licensing exam (this is assuming life and health).
However, this can be waived based on several circumstances. Have you ever been licensed in the state of Georgia? Have you ever been licensed in any other state? Do you have a CLU or FLMI designation?
To be honest with you, it would not take you very long to receive your full license and it could actually take longer to get a temporary license. If you need any other help, just post!

I would definately look into that for your state. You don't want to get into legal trouble.

agree with Auto above - make sure you've got your legal ducks properly sorted or you are asking to have your career ended prematurely.
