If i am the pirmary and my husband is the secondary. My copay is $15.00,and my Husband is 25.00 which one am i supposed to pay.

HUMANA NOW CHARGES A SINGLE CO-PAY OR A DOUBLE CO-PAY FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF INSULIN. That is like saying if you buy a loaf of bread and use 3 pieces a day you pay $3 for the loaf and if you use 5 pieces a day you have to pay $6 for the same loaf.

This past week, I tried to get my prescription pens with insulin (Lantus SoloStar) filled at Walmart, which they have been filling for years. I found the co-pay had suddenly doubled. After numerous calls and going back and forth to the store. I was amazed at what I found out. Humana insisted that the insulin co-pay priced on how many units I take each day and not by how it is packaged. That means if I take 50 IU a day, the pre-packed dosage of five pens of 300 IU is a 30-day supply and the insurance ask for one copay. If I take anything less than 50 IU a day for the same amount of insulin supplied (pre-packaged) by the drug company, let us say 30 IU or even 49 IU, and they double the co-pay from $45 to $90.

I often have to change the amount of insulin established on 2-3 day readings, which means I can take at times 30 IU and sometimes up to 50. Before each dosage, you have to purge the pen losing 2 IU or more to get rid of the bubbles. This makes it impossible to calculate how many dosages one gets from a pen or a 5-pen prepack. I would encourage everyone who has Humana to file a report with the State Attorney General’s Office, State Insurance Office and if it is under Medicare online on the Medicare Beneficiary Complaint Form

I recently got charged a second co-pay by my doctor because she claimed we talked about something outside the parameters of my "wellness" visit. Trust me we only talked about health issues, not about the weather or what I did on my vacation. I wrote her a strong letter and told her that I wouldn't be coming back to see her. This is not patient-centered care. Our medical world is broken and it's appalling to get your hand slapped with a double co-pay when talking to your primary care doctor about your health. I hope lots of people push back and speak up.
