Not really fraud and I can't say to much but I had a claim that I denied liability on. The party who suffered the loss threatened to file suit against the insured. Fine, certainly their right. But then the person came back and told the insured that they would turn over all info to the news agencies unless their loss was paid.

Hmmm, can anyone spell blackmail.

This person even put in writing that the information would be turned over to the insured once the claim was paid. In _writing_... on his company letterhead! Not the brightest move.

Title Insurance fraud is a real problem and under investigation in several state, including New York, California, Florida And Colorado. Anyone who buys a home or refinances has to buy title insurance, but unfortunately, most consumers know very little about the product. Many people have been over charged by hundreds of dollars for title insurance without ever realizing it.

Now for the flip side of my previous post about the insurance agent defrauding his clients. This news story from yesterday is just the OPPOSITE. In this case a young man defrauds the insurance company by using a dead person name to get cheaper insurance rates. Geesh. Check this one out:

A Weymouth man was convicted today of using a dead person's name to get cheaper motor vehicle insurance from one company and lying about his driving record to another, the state attorney general's office said today.

Insurance Agent Accused of Fraud - MI News

I am sure this probably happens more times than we hear but in todays news a Michigan Insurance Agent is accused of fraud in that he was taking the clients premiums but issuing fake insurance certificates then depositing the money into his personal account. Of course this left all the clients without any insurance although they were not aware of it until they began to get cancellation notices from the companies the policies were written on.

Medical Profession Role In Insurance Fraud

People would probably be surprised to know that the majority of insurance fraud concerns the medical profession in some manner.

Does anyone have any experience with any fraud case involving a doctor, hospital, nursing home, hospice facility, medicare, or medicaid?

Come to think about it, that would be a good blog topic.

Doctor gets "probation" for fraud - Unbelievable S

I find this story unbelievable. I mean I don't doubt that it is true but I can not imagine the sentence plus this quote made by his attorney:

"We are very happy with the judge's decision," Samuel said. "This doctor is an incredibly compassionate man who's helped countless people who had incurable cancers and whose children had terminal diseases. He provided hope."

Telemarketers annoy me to no end

Telemarketers annoy me to no end. I don't want my carpet cleaned, I don't feel like changing my phone company, I don't want my windows washed, and I don't have a car to buy insurance on either.

I just tell them "Please hold" and I stick on some classical music and go to lunch.

Light duty on Compensation

When a doctor releases someone from compensation to light duty and the company has not light duty available, is the company still responsible to pay the person? Will compensation continue to pay them until they are released to full duty?
