If your Dad had a safe, a file cabinet, a special drawer or a desk, there is probably a copy of any existing Will there.

Do you know your Dad's attorney (if he had one)?
Do you think your Dad would have written his Will himself or had someone else prepare it?

Did your Dad have assests which would have prompted him to create a Will?

Alice, First of all let me say I'm sorry you lost your dad. Is your mother still living? MAybe she would have the information you are looking for. If not maybe your dad left any information concerning a life insurance policy with another relative. How about a will of a family lawyer? There are also some websites out there you can check..someone who knows a little more about these sites should get on and direct you.

Ya know, I may be a bit 'ignorant' here, but I just don't know. one of the above posts said something about writing your OWN Will?..really? How do you do that? I'm assuming via the Internet? Does anyone have a Website they can share, on where to find information?

sorry to hear you lost your dad. Do you his attorney? This might be the easiest way to find out if he has made any will or not. I even heard that people hide their wills at their their closest friend's home for more safety or you can ask your mother. Your dad might have told you about the will.

You can contact his attorney. I think that could help a lot.

Just throwing in my 2 cents.

A person's Last Will & Testament ONLY controls and applies to property and assets the deceased person owned in their own individual name as a sole owner.

It does not control property owned as Joint Tenants with Right of Survivorship, it does not control the disposition of life insurance or annuity contracts, it does not control IRAs or 401k plans, it does not control, In Trust For (ITF) accounts, Payable On Death (POD) accounts or Transfer On Death (TOD) accounts or assets held in a Revocable Trust.

This will be the topic of the first show on The Financial Power Hour streaming live on www . whnz . com beginning Thursday, February 19th 2009 @ 1:00 PM.

My guest will be Steven W. Moore, Attorney at Law.

Great Garry, this is really a new information towards the will of any person, because we were accustomed to the generalized aspect but do not go deep into the subject matter.

the information you provided is really a nice rather i might have to invest (or waste) mine 1 hr on net to gather whole info regarding this & i am getting all that stuff here in a nutshell.

that's the beauty of ampminsure community. :D :D

This is showing why a will is so important. I thinlk anyone could benefit from the interview Gary is doing. Looking forward to it myself.
Oh and congrats Gary on your show.
