Does Bioglandin Injection Cause Dizziness After Standing Up?

Bioglandin injection contains alprostadil, a prostaglandin E1 analog used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is administered directly into the penile tissue or urethra to increase blood flow and trigger an erection. While generally effective and localized in action, some systemic side effects may occur, including dizziness after standing up, also known as orthostatic hypotension.

This dizziness is caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure when moving from a sitting or lying position to standing. Though alprostadil is mostly confined to the injection site, small amounts may enter the bloodstream, especially if injected incorrectly or if too high a dose is used. This can cause vasodilation throughout the body, temporarily lowering blood pressure and leading to lightheadedness or dizziness.

Men who are dehydrated, on blood pressure medications, or have underlying cardiovascular issues are more prone to this side effect. To reduce the risk, it’s advised to stand up slowly after administration and to avoid alcohol or other blood pressure-lowering agents.

In summary, while not common, BIOGLANDIN INJECTION can cause dizziness upon standing in some users. If this occurs frequently or severely, consult a healthcare provider for dosage adjustment or an alternative treatment.
