They are the people that crunch the numbers...they are the ones that look at the figures, such as credit, accidents, age etc, to determine, who gets in the most accidents and submits the most claims, and based on this info the insurance companies know how to rate various prospects that are looking for quotes. Does this help and make any sense to you?

Hi..yeah!

I'm quite agreeing with nique1221 at describing actuaries as professionals who have become the part-n-parcel of the insurance industries...and have come up the tests of time and trends.
These are people who keep a track of the movements in this industry and therefore guides the industry towards the better prospects. Regards, Lakemen

Actuaries are people who make different more or less complicated insurance calculations. For example how much must cost a life insurance contract for man aged 45, or the same contract for the woman age 25.

thank you cvetok for the example, now it is making more sense, I was thinking of all these charts and graphs and statistics, etc, etc. Is there alot of this used in the actuary field, I assume so right? Almost would have to be, if they track the historical trends and try to make some type of predictions for future life of the insurance industry?
