Development and problem-solving are fundamentally dangerous due to the fact when you deal with new or re-designed operations, there's usually a chance for something to go improper. That's why you require a reliable engineering, business insurance plan.
Most important engineering insurance policies are listed below:
General Liability Insurance.
Property Insurance.
Business Owner's Policy.
Errors & Omissions Insurance.
Workers' Compensation Insurance.
Umbrella Insurance.
Commercial Auto or Hired& Non-Owned Auto Insurance

Raymond . . . you are so very wrong with this answer. So very wrong. When you get licensed as a Property & Casualty insurance agent, please let us know. Until then, please do not post wrong information such as this.

Phil above is quite correct, you need to identify what you need covered before you really ask what you need.

In terms of owning an engineering firm, you want to be in the mind state that, any kind of issue can delay payment for a large payment. So the idea is that "engineers insurance" covers any issues you may have post project.

All that said I would say that Raymond and Ameen have covered the most important aspects of insurance for engineers generally. Though for my two cents I would say that errors and omissions insurance is what you should most be worried about lacking. You really don't want to find yourself dragged into a long litigation on top of other work : ). That said these guys, Hall & Company have been pretty solid to a buddy of mine, and have some good general and more specific ideas about engineering insurance for business owners. Hope that helps!

Engineering insurance covers security against electrical and mechanical breakdown for most machinery and plant including computers, lifts and boilers. No matter what trade you are in you may still require an engineering policy.
