This is what happened. On 12/15 we knew that our policy was going to expire and unfortunately get canceled. We as soon as we had a paycheck I went to pay for insurance. The agent at the general ( kemper specialty is actually my boyfriends insurance) told me that because the policy had to be reinstated that he would have to come in with his ID and the payment would be $319. Well he wasn't able to go in to the general until 12-27 to pay that amount. Now this time when he went it was a different agent than I had seen but we still knew her also. We took the recipet to our loan place, so they could turn car back on. (It's a GPS reader so we don't drive without insurance). Well on 1/6 we got into a major accident thankfully only ourselves; but we hit the wire in the median of the interstate. The conditions were wet and slippery. We hydroplaned. But when we went in on Monday 1/7 the insurance agent ( same one my boyfriend saw on 12/7) said she had been trying to contact is because kemper wanted Jan's payment by 1/8. And that they would were rejecting coverage. But I said we'll wait we just paid for this month. And she said no that was for Decembers payment. Well our normal pay day was on the 5th of every month. So as I understand it 12/5 -1/5 for coverage with 10 day grace period. But we recieved a letter from kemper saying something completely different then what our agent told us on 1/7. And of our agent did contact loan place they would've cut off the starter. We are just really lost on options or what exactly went wrong I think it's a mistake on her part, like maybe read the grace period days wrong. Any way any help or advice on what we can do please help and quick.

File a complaint with your state's Dept of Insurance. The will get the explanation you need. If the agent committed wrong doing, you can sue him/her and collect from their errors & omissions insurance.
